Welcome to my corner of the world! I’m so glad you took a few minutes to drop by. I created this website to share thoughts about life, faith, and lessons I have learned. I named this site ” Pressing Toward The Mark” for a couple reasons. My name is Mark, so that played into it. Additionally, and more importantly, I chose the title because of what the Apostle Paul said in the Bible in Philippians 3:13-14. In this passage Paul said, ” Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” That describes my attitude. I try not to worry about past mistakes I cannot undo. I leave the past in the past. I have not achieved perfection, nor do I expect to in this lifetime. But I press toward the mark and strive to be the  best  I can be.

Long ago, I decide I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of people I come in contact with in life. When we die, we will all have a grave marker with our name on it, two dates, and a dash. The first date will represent when we were born. The second date will represent when we died. The dash in between is what matters. It will represent the time we spent in life. I want to fill my “dash” with happiness, love, and time spent being encouraged and bringing encouragement to others. My hope and prayer is something you read here will encourage and inspire you to continue striving for higher heights and  to never give up on your dreams. As Walt Disney once said, ” If you can dream it, you can achieve it.”
